My PhD project is entitled “Mid-life exposure to negative social relations at work, cardiovascular risk factors and the risk of Dementia in old age”. The primary aim of my PhD project is to investigate whether negative social relations at the workplace increase the risk of dementia in old age. The secondary aim is to investigate whether poor sleep and CVD risk factors (physical activity, BMI, Blood pressure and smoking) mediate the relationship (if confirmed) between negative social relations at the workplace and incident dementia.
My background of education is combined with a bachelor’s in Anthropology, and a master’s in Public Health Epidemiology from Karolinska Institutet (KI). I have research experience both in qualitative and epidemiological research which includes mapping study in high-risk group of HIV/Aids and intervention study in avian influenza (H5N1) in Bangladesh collaborated with ICDDR, B (International Centre for Diarrheal Disease Research, Bangladesh); register-based study in suicide and disability pension in Sweden collaborated with KI and register-based study in severe hypoglycemia in Type 1 diabetes patients in Denmark collaborated with Steno Diabetes Center.
